Such was the state of Arsenal’s performance that one of the standout players didn’t come on until the 60th minute. Reiss Nelson has had a mixed season. Injuries have played a part in seeing him sidelined, while other players have also been in good form. Yet when called upon, Nelson has performed admirably. He provides energy which often invigorates the team from the bench, doing so again on Sunday.

With Arsenal only one goal down when he came on, it was clear that he wanted to be the difference maker. His work rate was nothing short of commendable, sprinting back and tackling opposition players while also bursting forward when in possession. Within minutes of coming on, he had an impressive run, cutting inside Moises Caicedo before firing towards goal and missing by inches. That play signalled his intent.

While he could not influence the result as much as he did against Bournemouth, Nelson continues to keep himself in the manager’s thoughts.
