Which pot are Arsenal in for 2023/24 Champions League draw?
Arsenal may not have ended the 2022/23 Premier League season as champions, but Mikel Arteta’s side undoubtedly exceeded expectations.
After barely missing out on a top-four spot the previous campaign, a return to the Champions League was considered the club’s primary objective for the season. A title challenge was foreshadowed by nobody.
And while the Gunners led the way for much of the campaign, a vintage Man City run combined with Arsenal’s faltering epilogue meant, predictably, it was a group of sky-blue shirts lifting the Premier League title aloft.
Arteta’s side, however, recorded their biggest single-season points haul since the Invincibles campaign of 2003/04 and scored more goals than they have done in any Premier League season since the competition’s inauguration. It was a quite majestic season and for the first time in six years, that glorious Champions League anthem will ring around the Emirates.
Which pot are Arsenal in for 2023/24 Champions League draw?
Arsenal were once perennial Pot 1 members, but their co-efficient decline means they’ll be in Pot 2 for the 2023/24 Champions League group stage draw, which will take place on 31 August 2023.
With several of Europe’s top leagues yet to conclude, there’s still plenty to be decided in terms of Arsenal’s potential group-stage opponents. However, the likes of Napoli, Barcelona, Bayern Munich, Benfica, and Paris Saint-Germain have already been placed in Pot 1. They’re poised to be joined by the winners of the Champions and Europa League.
The Gunners do avoid Real Madrid, who are also in Pot 2, as well as Borussia Dortmund, Porto, RB Leipzig, and Atletico Madrid.
The likes of Milan, Lazio, Real Sociedad, Union Berlin, and Lens are potential opponents for Arsenal from Pots 3 and 4.
