Arsenal are actively working on four new signings in what would be a superb start to the 2023 summer transfer window.

After enjoying an excellent 2022/23 campaign which for so long looked as if it would culminate in Premier League glory, many expected the Gunners to embark on a busy summer in a bid to usurp Manchester City next season.

Arsenal’s stuttering form down the stretch, where familiar weaknesses manifested, ensured City waltzed to their third-straight title, but the Gunners are seemingly intent on laying down an incredibly early marker heading into 2023/24 by wrapping up several transfers.

Midfield is the club’s priority area of need this summer with Granit Xhaka and Thomas Partey both potentially departing as part of the reshuffle. West Ham captain Declan Rice has been identified as Arsenal’s top target, and there’s optimism a deal can be struck after the Hammers rebuffed the Gunners’ first bid.

A second proposal in excess of £90m has been sent, with Rice reportedly keen on the move.

Supporters hoped the potential addition of Rice would be backed up by a pursuit of Brighton midfielder Moises Caicedo, who was strongly linked with a move in January. However, Arsenal are said to be out of the Caicedo sweepstakes this summer, with Chelsea leading the charge.

Southampton’s Romeo Lavia looks to have been sought out as a Caicedo alternative, with the Gunners poised to send an official bid to the Saints soon. Various reports suggest this deal won’t be too difficult for the Gunners to pull off, even if the Championship club want a record fee for his sale.

Kai Havertz also has the potential to be a part of Arsenal’s midfield reshuffle. The surprise move made by the club looks set to culminate in a £60m purchase, with the German international having the potential to perform various functions within Mikel Arteta’s framework. However, Havertz’s struggles in the Premier League mean this big-money deal is a risky one. His talent, though, is undeniable.

Complementing these three is a potential move that has plenty of supporters excited. An Orny bomba dropped on Monday night revealing Arsenal’s interest in Ajax defender Jurrien Timber. The versatile Dutchman is similar to Ben White in profile and capable of playing as both a right- and centre-back.

However, Arsenal’s opening offer fell well short of Ajax’s valuation. Although, Ornstein understands that there’s belief a compromise will be reached with the player all but agreeing to personal terms.

At the moment, this all looks incredibly exciting. While some have doubts other Havertz, there’s no question that Arsenal’s squad will be bolstered considerably should the club pull each of these deals off. However, we all know that the transfer market works in mysterious ways. There’s still a long way to go yet.
