Thomas Partey has been a staple of Mike Arteta’s side since he took over, but now there appears to be a scenario where the Ghanaian is no longer in north London.

On the list of things to see this offseason for Arsenal, Thomas Partey potentially being moved on was likely missing from everyone’s bingo card.

The midfielder has been an ever-present in Mikel Arteta’s midfield (when fit), but Partey now seems to be on the outer. With the impending arrival of Declan Rice and possibly Romeo Lavia, many thought the Partey/Rice combination might serve the Gunners well.

But Arteta reportedly wants a midfield overhaul.

Granit Xhaka is near enough out the door, and if Partey follows, then it truly is a changing of the guard at the Emirates.

Are Arsenal right in listening to offers for the 30-year-old Partey?

There have been rumours of the club not being happy with the drop off in form towards the tail end of last season as, in the beginning, he was at the top of his game but failed to reach those heights after the break for the World Cup.

Per Fabrizio Romano, there has yet to be any movement on a new contract for Partey, with only two years left on his current deal, which has led many to think he could be sold.

Many thought Partey would be a mainstay in the Gunners midfield, but it appears that Arteta and co want fresh bodies in the engine room. Some have stated that with Xhaka and possibly Partey leaving, Arsenal are again leaving themselves relatively thin in midfield.

Should both depart, multiple new midfielders will call the Emirates home next season. Does that come in the form of Rice, Lavia, and Brighton’s Moises Caicedo?

It does show how far the club has come that a player of Partey’s quality is now deemed surplus to requirements in north London.

With Champions League football secured, one would have thought retaining Partey and adding Rice and the like around him would be the way forward.

Clearly, Arteta and co. think otherwise, and based on their recent transfer windows, we have little reason not to doubt what is currently being done.
