Last week’s chaos slowly petered out and Arsenal supporters have enjoyed several serene days on the transfer front. However, there’s hope that the club will secure two signings by the end of the week.

The Gunners looked to have moved efficiently to secure the services of Kai Havertz, while the club’s second bid for Jurrien Timber is much closer to Ajax’s valuation after their opening proposal was shunned.

The big deal for Declan Rice is also in the works, although Man City’s interest and West Ham’s stubbornness mean it’s unlikely that a resolution will be found soon. Arsenal are still confident they’ll secure Rice’s signature, but they’re yet to submit their third all-important bid. The player’s preferred destination is still believed to be north London.

While every single one of us wakes up every day in the hope of an Orny bomba regarding Rice, that day appears to be a little while in the making yet. First on the agenda is the two aforementioned signings of Havertz and Timber.

Jorginho hinted that the move for his former Chelsea teammate is all but done when he posted a selfie with Havertz on Instagram at Kepa Arrizabalaga’s wedding. The German international is said to have completed his medical ahead of a £65m move to north London. It’s a deal that’s intrigued many, but if Mikel Arteta’s sold on the languid space invader, then you bet your bottom dollar that I’m investing!

The Timber deal isn’t quite as far along, but the player is completely sold on the project and there don’t appear to be any other competitors for the defender’s signature after Bayern were told that the 22-year-old intends on signing with the Gunners.

Timber has reportedly agreed to personal terms, with Arsenal lodging a second bid in excess of £40m which should be enough to get the job done. Once a deal’s been struck with Ajax, Timber will soon be signing on the dotted line.

While the jury’s out on Havertz following his indifferent spell across the capital, the excitement is palpable over Timber given his profile. He’s perfect for Arteta. However, Edu Gaspar must get the big one over the line to ensure supporters are appeased. He must bring Declan Rice to Arsenal.
