Wow. What a start Arsenal have made to the summer transfer window.

An early spending spree has been followed up by the contract extensions of William Saliba and Reiss Nelson, now it’s time to sell.

In this mini-series, we’ll run through the position groups (excluding goalkeepers) and list several players that the Gunners should consider parting ways with this summer – via loan or permanently.

1. Rob Holding

Poor Holding was scapegoated for Arsenal’s woes in the wake of William Saliba’s injury. Sure, the English defender somewhat hindered the Gunners’ cause, but he was far from solely responsible for the club’s late-season collapse.

Holding has been a loyal servant in north London and a serviceable deputy when called upon. However, it feels as if the Mikel Arteta project has passed the defender by, and this summer appears to be the right time for the centre-back to move on.

He’s not getting any younger, and first-team minutes at the Emirates will prove almost impossible to come by following the arrival of Jurrien Timber from Ajax. A departure is expected, but where he could end up is a mystery. Will a low-end Premier League club fancy picking him up? Perhaps the Championship is a wise destination.

I don’t think the Saudi Pro League will come calling if I’m honest.
