Arsenal brokered a British record £105m deal with West Ham for Declan Rice on 4 July, but the England international is yet to be officially unveiled by the club. Is there a cause for concern?

The Gunners made it clear that Rice was their priority target heading into the summer, and they made their move after West Ham secured Europa Conference League glory. After facing off stiff competition from Bayern Munich and Man City, Arsenal’s third bid was accepted by the Hammers.

While it took some time for issues regarding the payment structure to be resolved, the Gunners eventually got the deal done and the entire fan base is excited by the 24-year-old’s potential impact in north London.

However, it’s been nine days since the Rice deal was reported as complete. Why hasn’t his arrival been officially announced?

Don’t worry, Gooners, Rice will be an Arsenal player. There’s not going to be a late hijacking, nor will the midfielder have a change of heart. Mikel Arteta has done an excellent job of selling his project to the West Ham skipper, with Rice always favouring a move to the Gunners over other potential suitors.

We’re now just playing a waiting game, with the latest reports suggesting the club are hopeful of unveiling Rice before Arteta’s squad leave for the States on Sunday afternoon.

Arsenal’s impending new addition is yet to complete all the necessary in-house media duties that’ll accompany his announcement, with a reliable West Ham source writing that Rice will release a farewell video to the Hammers before he’s unveiled by his new club – either on Friday or Saturday.

The situation is similar with Jurrien Timber, who the club were hoping to have with them for their mini-camp in Germany. However, a minor contract issue has dragged out his official signing, although that has been resolved and the club are expected to confirm the Dutchman’s arrival on Friday.

These announcements better go hard.
