It felt like nothing went wrong for Arsenal last summer, but the 2023 pre-season hasn’t been quite so simple for Mikel Arteta and his squad.

The Gunners went into the 2022/23 campaign off the back of an unbeaten pre-season, but Arteta’s side have already been held by FC Nurnberg and beaten by Man Utd in New Jersey this summer. They are, however, only halfway through their pre-season schedule ahead of 2023/24.

The final leg of their US tour is just around the corner with a clash against Barcelona in LA upcoming. There have been few standouts in pre-season so far, but there are several players who must conclude the tour with a bang before the return to north London for the Emirates Cup and Community Shield.

The England international’s distribution was sloppy and his particularly poor first half was epitomised by United’s first goal, in which Ramsdale didn’t do enough to prevent Bruno Fernandes’ effort from hitting the back of the net.

Matt Turner has proven himself to be more than competent since he joined the club, so Rambo will not want performances such as those on Saturday to become frequent otherwise his spot in the XI will gradually come under scrutiny.
