2. Fabio Vieira

We gave Fabio Vieira the benefit of the doubt for his indifferent debut season in north London.

Physically undercooked after missing the entirety of pre-season with a foot injury, the Portuguese playmaker certainly wasn’t best prepared for life in the Premier League and his lack of minutes during the second half of 2022/23 highlighted that he failed to garner the trust of the manager.

Vieira is obviously a talented footballer whose profile seemingly fits with Arteta’s ideals, but there are questions over whether he boasts the minerals to succeed for a club with such lofty ambitions.

His pre-season so far has gone much like his debut season, and his penalty miss in an albeit meaningless shootout against United rather summed up his woes.
