3. Martin Odegaard vs Sasa Lukic

Can Martin Odegaard be the difference-maker once again?

Our captain proved his leadership mettle from the spot against Crystal Palace, but it is his Fulham record – and general quality – that will hearten supporters ahead of the weekend fixture.

Despite typically operating behind the scenes, Odegaard scored in both Fulham clashes last season and was particularly influential during the comeback win in August 2022 – when a catalogue of sublime touches and a crucial equaliser earned him the Man of the Match award.

The 24-year-old’s ability to coordinate the press and retain possession will be useful in helping us sustain pressure against a well-organised defensive unit, while his flair for invention offers Arsenal a potent attacking weapon that can open up any game.

Standing in his way is Sasa Lukic, whose commendable work ethic and duelling will serve to disrupt the Gunners’ frontline. The January signing tackles effectively and competes well in the air, but will perhaps stand out more for the intensity with which he defends – a trait that may afford Odegaard little time to orchestrate attacks.

However, Lukic thrives more so as a midfield shuttler and has the technical proficiency to link play or even drive forward himself to bring his team up the pitch, which could cause us huge problems if turnovers are engineered.

He was trusted in big matches alongside Joao Palhinha last year, and their dual presence will greatly test our skipper.
