4. Gabriel

Gabriel’s omission from the starting XI has been strange, and while Arteta asserted that his benching has nothing to do with transfer speculation, I find that hard to believe. There must be something to it.

The Brazilian was a stellar performer last season and was a regular starter throughout the summer, why has he suddenly been dropped for the start of the new Premier League campaign and merely utilised to see out a game? It just doesn’t make sense.

There have been links to the Saudi Pro League, although I’m almost certain Arsenal aren’t going to sell such a prized asset at this stage of the window. That’d be catastrophic.

Nevertheless, I wouldn’t be surprised, especially if he doesn’t start again on Sunday, if the rumours heat up just before the conclusion of the Saudi transfer deadline on 7 September.
