The Champions League has finally returned to the Emirates, and it returned with a bang!

Arsenal hosted PSV Eindhoven in the first game of their campaign, and they got off to the perfect start with a 4-0 victory.

Bukayo Saka scored on his UCL debut after just eight minutes with a tidy finish after Walter parried a Martin Odegaard shot. Saka then teed up Leandro Trossard for Arsenal’s second before the Belgian continued the cycle by setting up Gabriel Jesus to triple the hosts’ advantage.

Finally, captain Odegaard got in on the fun with a rocket in the 70th minute, capping off a classic Arsenal performance.

PSV didn’t have one clear-cut chance in the game, and Arsenal looked destined to win from the outset. Playing a team that wasn’t afraid to attack for once, the Gunners were far too good going forward and far too comfortable in defence for the Dutch team.

4 standout players in joyous Champions League victory

An extremely encouraging start, almost every player from the starting line-up could have been included in the standouts, but I am limiting myself to only four. Here they are!

1. Bukayo Saka

Arsenal fans have been dying to see their starboy in the Champions League ever since his debut, and he more than lived up to the occasion. Saka’s goal was very well taken, deftly finishing from an acute angle.

His assist to Trossard was also smart and tidy, capping off a beautiful and lethal counter-attack started by Jesus.

Outside of his goal and assist, he was constantly threatening down the right flank. Whenever he got into a one-on-one with Sergiño Dest, he had the beating of the PSV full-back.

For someone who hasn’t had the best possible start to the season, at least by his standards, Saka is currently sitting on six G/A in six starts. He always contributes, and Arsenal fans should be very grateful that Bukayo Saka plays for their club.
