2. Declan Rice

Talk about making an immediate impact. Within a matter of weeks, Rice has not only mastered the system, he has also elevated the Arsenal midfield. The former West Ham man has brought security as well as a much-needed physicality. He will need to be at his usual high level against Tottenham.

Much of the success of Arsenal’s rivals has come as a result of their revamped engine room. Maddison was an excellent acquisition. Along with the form of Yves Bissouma and Pape Sarr, and Destiny Udogie’s inversion, Rice will have his hands full. While other players may find themselves overwhelmed when anchoring a midfield alone, Rice has proven more than capable of exerting his presence.

His athleticism allows him to be nearly omnipresent. Fans have found him collecting the ball from the back four, slaloming his way from the right half-space before winning a duel in the centre circle, all within seconds. His ability to cover ground is unparalleled. Additionally, his skill on both sides of the ball will allow Arsenal to keep out a dangerous Tottenham attack while building play effectively.
