With a Carabao Cup win behind them, Mikel Arteta will already be turning his players’ attention to Bournemouth. Momentum is key, especially with the game against Manchester City looming closer.

Rotation will certainly need to be a factor at the weekend. Injury concerns with Leandro Trossard, Gabriel Martinelli, Declan Rice and Bukayo Saka are still in place. Fortunately, certain options have arisen. Several players were impressive against Brentford and starting them again Bournemouth would allow squad members to come back without rushing.

1. Gabriel Magalhaes

Deployed alongside Takehiro Tomiyasu on Wednesday, Gabriel Magalhaes was impressive once again. His aerial prowess was on full display against Brentford. His defending continues to help Arsenal win games and his physical profile will remain important in the squad.

The Brazilian boasts pace. He covered the channels well against the Bees, cutting out several dangerous counter-attacks. His physicality will also be needed against Bournemouth. On the ball, he remains comfortable passing out from the back.

When Arsenal need a defender to step up in tough away games with their backs against the wall, Gabriel can always be counted on.
