After Arsenal’s 1-0 win over Manchester City, Gary Neville believes they can surpass Pep Guardiola’s men in their quest for the league title.

Last season, Arsenal held sway in the Premier League title chase over Manchester City before being run down by Pep Guardiola’s team.

It was a season of growth for Arsenal, and now, after the first eight games of the league season, they sit joint top of the league with Tottenham fresh off a 1-0 win over Manchester City.

The Gunners kept City to just four shots on target while William Saliba took Erling Haaland out of the game completely.

After such a superb performance to dismantle Guardiola’s side, former Manchester United star Gary Neville believes that Arsenal can usurp City for the title this season.

"“I think they’ve got a big chance, Arsenal,” Neville said via Sky Sports. “They’ve got to keep their players fit. They’re 100-per-cent better with Declan Rice in the middle of the pitch, without a shadow of a doubt.”"

What made the win even better was Arsenal rested its most talented player in Bukayo Saka and, in doing so, will now give him a full three weeks of rest as the international break is upon us.

While yes, City were without Rodri and Kevin De Bruyne as well, the result was more about Arsenal than City.

For Neville, there are three players the Gunners need fit and firing if they are to get past the City juggernaut finally.

"“To beat City, and give [injured] Bukayo Saka a three-week rest, that could be a really good thing,” Neville said. “The two centre-backs and Rice are the most important players to keep fit. They won’t win the league without them.”"

Arsenal currently sits unbeaten in the league and is starting to regain some injured players as Thomas Partey made his return in the City win.

After getting so close last season, the Gunners are again off to a great start in their title bid, but as we saw last season, it is a marathon, and it doesn’t take much to derail a campaign.

But for now, there is a lot to be happy about in north London, considering that Mikel Arteta’s side hasn’t even played a complete game yet.
