Arsenal players will be going into this international break buoyed by their win against Manchester City.
Mikel Arteta will be especially happy with the result considering the state of the squad. Several key players were out with injuries or were flittering between fit and not fit. This two-week break will allow them to rest and recuperate before the next round of fixtures.
3 crucial players Arsenal must get fit during international break
Here are three crucial players that now have a chance to get fit during the international break.
1. Gabriel Martinelli
With the game against Manchester City poised on a razor’s edge, Gabriel Martinelli’s introduction provided the all-important impetus. His pace, unpredictability and directness have been sorely missed and all three aspects of his game were needed on Sunday. Immediately after coming on, the left-hand side was revitalised.
The Brazilian is not one to shy away from responsibility. He knew that his ability would be needed and started demanding the ball as soon as he stepped on the pitch. The defining moment of the game would come later in the second half, with Martinelli striking home.
The left-hand side has looked flat in recent weeks largely due to Martinelli’s absence. Although he was impressive against City, he was not deemed fit enough to start. The next two weeks will be free of fixtures, allowing the winger to get back to his best.
