Arsenal’s squad is much deeper than it was last season. A quick look at the bench reveals quality players who could start elsewhere but are left playing second-fiddle in north London.

If the Gunners want to challenge Manchester City for the title, these players will certainly be needed over the course of the season.

With the international break coming at a good time for Arsenal, players have had the chance to impress for their national teams and if they were left at home, catching Mikel Arteta’s eye at London Colney would’ve been the primary goal.

The youngster has been slowly trying to return from injury and get fit again. He had an eye-catching performance in the EFL Cup against Brentford. Popping up between the lines before bursting into the box, he offers a threat off-the-ball. This talent is unique in the squad and will be useful against tightly marshalled opposition defences.

With another two weeks of training and conditioning under his belt, Arteta could call on him more after the break.
