Jesus was one of the players who underperformed against Chelsea on the weekend, so it was a great reaction from him. He seemed more composed and better on the ball, with a much better passing accuracy: 71% against Chelsea compared to 92% against Sevilla.
However, he’s not on the pitch for his passing prowess, and he showed his greatness in two moments today.
Firstly, it was his turn for the first goal. Jesus left two players around him for dead, sending them completely the wrong way. He then measured his pass very well, allowing Martinelli through on goal without breaking stride.
Then, cutting in from the left, Jesus dribbled into the penalty area and looked up for a cross. Not seeing a pass, he decided to powerfully curl it into the opposite corner, giving the goalkeeper no chance. That’s what you want to see from your centre forward!
