Newcastle vs Arsenal preview: Prediction, team news & lineups
After succumbing to West Ham in the Carabao Cup, Arsenal will be looking to maintain their unbeaten start to the Premier League season when they travel to Newcastle on Saturday evening.
A rotated Gunners outfit failed to fire on Wednesday night as an efficient Hammers progressed into the quarter-finals of the competition at Arsenal’s expense. On the contrary, Newcastle had a wonderful night in the cup as they thumped Manchester United 3-0 at Old Trafford.
Now, both sides’ attentions turn to a huge Premier League fixture at the weekend.
The Gunners produced one of their performances of the season at St. James’ Park last term, winning 2-0, and only Liverpool and Borussia Dortmund have won away at Newcastle since. It’s such a tough place to visit, although Eddie Howe is currently mitigating a mini-injury crisis.
Mikel Arteta will return his starters to Saturday’s XI after his fringe squad members failed to impress on Wednesday night as the Spaniard goes in search of a statement victory.

Newcastle vs Arsenal score prediction
While the Magpies are going to be without key players at both ends of the pitch, their deputies have proved serviceable in recent weeks. Arsenal were excellent on Tyneside last season, and they’ll need to produce a similar performance under the lights this weekend.
Newcastle’s attack is purring, and they’ve been similarly stout in defence. Overall, this is a mightily tough game for a Gunners side that, despite their unbeaten record, hasn’t looked quite right at the start of 2023/24.
I think they might succumb to their first Premier League defeat of the season this weekend.
Prediction: Newcastle 2-1 Arsenal
