Arsenal can take full command of Group B with a victory over Sevilla in the Champions League on Wednesday night.

It’s been a while since the Gunners enjoyed a special European night under the lights with their two previous fixtures being overseas. They opened their account with an emphatic 4-0 victory over PSV and returned to the top of the group with a 2-1 win over Sevilla on Matchday 3.

Thus, the Gunners have picked up six points at the halfway point with Sevilla coming to town to kick off the second half of the group stage.

The Spaniards have picked up just two points through three group games and could do with a big away win at the Emirates on Wednesday. Sevilla have so far made a habit of drawing since Diego Alonso was appointed as manager.

Arsenal team news

Eddie Nketiah’s two anonymous showings following his maiden Premier League hat-trick means his place in the team is under threat and we could see Arteta make a change up top. Perhaps Leandro Trossard will be given a run out with Kai Havertz remaining in midfield.

Martin Odegaard’s potential absence could offer Fabio Vieira an opening.

Gabriel Jesus and Thomas Partey are out for the Gunners, while Jurrien Timber is a long-term absentee. Oleksandr Zinchenko could come back into the team with Ben White potentially dropping out of the XI.

Sevilla team news

Veteran defender Sergio Ramos, who was excellent in the reverse fixture, is likely to miss out with a muscle injury.

The former Real Madrid star joins Marcao and Alfonso Pastor on the sidelines.

Dodi Lukebakio and Youssef En-Nesyri are sure bets to return to Sevilla’s XI after they were dropped to the bench for their draw at Celta Vigo on Saturday.

Arsenal vs Sevilla score prediction

Saturday’s perceived injustice will hopefully light a fire within Mikel Arteta’s squad, with the Gunners struggling mightily from an attacking perspective in their last two outings.

Their performance two weeks ago in Seville wasn’t particularly fluent, but two magic moments from Gabriel Jesus steered them towards a big win.

The Emirates crowd should play a role on Wednesday night against a wily Sevilla outfit who showed in the reverse fixture that they can steal control away from the Gunners. The hosts’ defensive resolve has been key to their early success at the start of 2023/24, and this grit could lay the foundations for an important victory on Wednesday.

Prediction: Arsenal 2-0 Sevilla
