Positive #2: Saka and Martinelli at their best

Arsenal arguably have two of the best wingers in the Premier League in Saka and Martinelli, but injuries and lack of form have been worrying in recent weeks. Martinelli returned from injury to net the winner against Manchester City last month, while Saka has been struggling with his own fair share of injuries. They both struggled against Newcastle last weekend and it must be a relief for Arteta to have his two wingers back flying, looking sharp and combining for goals.

Saka provided the assist for Trossard’s opener in the first half, while Martinelli assisted Saka’s strike in the second half. Both have not hit the heights they’ve set for themselves in recent seasons but their contributions are a welcome development and Arteta will be hoping for much more in the coming weeks.

Negative #2: Saka injury concern

Saka was substituted late in the second half after landing awkwardly. That is a worry as the winger is so important to the way Arsenal play. With a goal and assist, the Gunners face an anxious wait to find out if there is any meaningful damage to their talisman.

Maybe it is time for Mikel Arteta to look after his starboy, give him a breather in games and trust his players who are potential candidates to fill in for the Englishman.
