Arsenal walked to a comfortable 2-0 win over Sevilla in its Champions League match, with Declan Rice loving the energy his team played with.

Arsenal barely broke a sweat as they rebounded from the controversial 1-0 loss to Newcastle in the league to record a 2-0 win over Sevilla at the Emirates Stadium in its fourth Champions League match of the group stage.

The win puts the Gunners right on the brink of qualifying for the knockout rounds, and such was the way Arsenal won, midfielder Declan Rice, who was again superb, had glowing words for his teammates after their efforts.

“We were very good, high energy, at it from the start, full gas,” Rice said via arsenal.com. We didn’t let them breathe, I think they had one shot all game. It was just an all-round really good performance, especially with them sitting really deep playing a back five, which is always hard to break down. But once we did it, it was a very good performance.”

Declan ain’t wrong.

In the Champions League, to keep a team to just a single shot on goal for the entire match is some effort, and the Gunners did it at a canter.

Now, with some breathing room at the top of Group B, Arsenal can secure its progression into the knockout round by defeating Lens at the Emirates in their next Champions League match.

The Gunners have won three of their four games and are four points clear at the summit of their group. For Rice, the experience has been good thus far, but he has eyes firmly focused on what is coming down the road.

“The group stage games have been amazing so far, and hopefully if we get through to the knockouts, it’ll be another level up, so I’m really looking forward towards that already,” Rice said.

Arsenal gets the chance to build on the Sevilla win when Burnley, who have just one win on the season, visit the Emirates at the weekend in the league.

And Rice will again be hoping that Arsenal can again be “full gas” and get the desired result to maintain its position near the top of the Premier League table.
