Arsenal’s productive start to the 2023/24 season has been all the more impressive given the club’s injury woes.

With Gabriel Jesus missing the start of the campaign after undergoing knee surgery and Jurrien Timber succumbing to an ACL tear on Matchday 1, Mikel Arteta is yet to field his strongest XI following another busy summer transfer window.

While the Gunners haven’t dazzled as they often did last term, their increased security and efficiency render a title victory more likely. However, Manchester City remain the firm favourites to go all the way for an unprecedented fourth straight time.

If Arsenal are to compete with City again, they must get healthier. Fortunately, the November international break arrived at the right moment. Arteta’s current absentees have another two weeks to recover ahead of the festive slog.

We haven’t seen the very best of the skipper so far this season, but there may be an explanation for his slow start.

The Nordic playmaker missed Arsenal’s final two games before the break and was also an unused substitute in the 5-0 victory over Sheffield United. It’s believed that Odegaard has been dealing with a concussion, as well as a hip injury.

His issues meant he withdrew from the Norway squad for their November fixtures, giving him ample time to recover at London Colney before the trip to Brentford. The skipper will be assessed throughout the break, but it’s expected that he’ll be ready to go in two Saturdays’ time.
