Arsenal have been cruising since that disappointing 1-0 defeat to Liverpool at the end of August, which feels like a lifetime ago. A 1-0 win over Fulham on Saturday has made it six wins in eight and put Mikel Arteta's men in control of the title race.
There isn't much to moan about for the Emirates faithful who have watched the Gunners miss out on league glory for the past three seasons. Don't say it too loudly but there is a feeling that this might just be the year.
That's thanks largely to the incredible squad Arteta has at his disposal, with a busy summer transfer window resulting in unbelievable strength in depth. But with additions such as Eberechi Eze and Martin Zubimendi, there is competition for places, and there are three players who are struggling for game time for various reasons.
3 Arsenal players in Mikel Arteta's doghouse
Ethan Nwaneri

One of the only criticisms that fans could arguably have of Arteta so far this season is his handling of Ethan Nwaneri. The Hale End academy graduate has been on the fringes of the first team despite starring in his first proper campaign last time out.
Nwaneri's future was uncertain in the summer when speculation grew over Chelsea's interest in the 18-year-old. But he put pen to paper on a new long-term deal, commiting his future to the club until 2030.
The teenage wonderkid wanted promises about his place in Arteta's team before extending his stay with the Gunners. He hasn't started a single league game despite Martin Odegaard's injury troubles, and been handed a total of 145 minutes worth of top-flight action.
Ben White

There isn't a better defence in world football than Arsenal's but that means one or two high-profile names have to settle for bit-part roles. That's been the case for Ben White whose return from injury has seen him used only in cup competitions.
The former Brighton man's fitness struggles may have harmed his status as a regular in Arteta's team given he has remained on the bench in the league since returning in September. The form of Jurrien Timber and the additions of other defenders mean his future is surely not certain.
White signed a new contract last season which expires in the summer of 2028. There's no doubt he's been an excellent option over the years but he may have to accept limited game time if he wants to continue with the North Londoners.
Christian Nørgaard

This is slightly harsh because Christian Nørgaard has only just returned from injury, but Arteta's midfield options do bring his acquisition into question. The Dane is an experienced head which could be vital but he doesn't get anywhere near the manager's best XI.
Nørgaard feels like a stop-gap to deal with Jorginho and Thomas Partey's exits before the club sign a younger midfielder of similar profile. He did cost £10m so there is a reason he was brought to the Emirates although with just 91 minutes played thus far the jury is out.
The 31-year-old enjoyed himself on international duty with Denmark last week and suggested that he wanted to impress Arteta (via Mirror):
“It’s also important for me to get these minutes to show the club that I can get through these games. I think now, considering how few minutes I’ve played with Arsenal, there were no flaws, no cramps or anything. Hopefully the coach is at home watching to see that I can handle it physically.”
Nørgaard signed a two-year deal but likely felt he was going to be handed more opportunities. He is one to watch as the season progresses.
