While he did enjoy a short redemption arc before suffering an anterior cruciate ligament injury in January, it was highly likely Gabriel Jesus would have been sold this summer had he not been recovering from the major setback.

The only probable reason he remains an Arsenal player is that it would have been mightily harsh for the club to actively pursue a sale while he looked to make the comeback from one of the worst injuries a footballer can sustain.

Jesus has not been included in Arteta's Champions League squad for the first half of the season, meaning he may not be viewed as part of the Spaniard's plans upon his return. With Viktor Gyokeres' arrival added to that, the Brazilian may be surplus to requirements. He will be at risk of sale in either the January transfer window or next summer.
