3. Not much value for money
His red flags only become more accented after consideration of the finances that would be involved in this transfer.
Reports last summer indicated Newcastle would not entertain offers below £150m for Isak – even at a time of grave financial trouble for the club – and there is every chance that a successful bid would still have to exceed £100m today, irrespective of any disagreement on Tyneside.
Additionally, the player might demand a big increase on his current £120,000 salary, with a desire to become the top earner at Newcastle being one of the biggest reasons for the present impasse at St. James’ Park.
Arsenal can definitely afford it, but the money involved would probably trump that required for our no. 1 target, Benjamin Sesko, and the Toon will no doubt look to play hardball with us given the domestic rivalry aspect.
Injuries and tactical weak spots mean the Gunners should not let themselves be held to ransom, and so they are better off looking elsewhere.
