Arsenal have effectively secured a deal to sign Brentford captain Christian Norgaard and he should be a very good signing for the club.

The Gunners agreed a deal for the Danish international last week following a swift day of reported negotiations and all that waits is an official announcement by the club.

The impending move has attracted criticism from some cynical Arsenal fans and expectedly so, but there are three reasons why Norgaard will be a good signing.

1. Premier League experience

One of the key things that will be missing from the base of midfield following Thomas Partey's departure is experience playing in the Premier League. New holding man Martin Zubimendi is new to the English top flight and won't boast the same level of expertise as Partey did. Now, up step Christian Norgaard.

Since helping Brentford achieve promotion to the Prem, the Bees' skipper has played 122 games in the competition, scoring 11 goals and providing 13 assists. That is something that'll come in great handy for Mikel Arteta and his side.

If Zubimendi struggles with the initial adaption to the league, Norgaard can always be called on to step in and provide solidity at the base of midfield. He would not only showcase his experience on the pitch, but he could also be the perfect man to aid his Spanish counterpart's development in England. His experience will be a great help to the Arsenal squad.
