Arsenal takes on Liverpool this weekend in a huge clash that will no doubt have a big impact on the outcome of this season's Premier League title race.

The Gunners are currently four points behind Sunday's opponents and are only separated from the table-toppers by Manchester City. Despite being just eight matches into the season, this game looks to be incredibly important in deciding who wins the league.

As a result, it is crucial for Arsenal to secure a win against Arne Slot's high-flying Liverpool and there are three reasons why.

Arsenal are already four points behind top-placed Liverpool and dropping more on Sunday would see them fall even further behind the Reds and Manchester City. Mikel Arteta just cannot let this happen.

Dropping points against Liverpool would mean that the Gunners would find themselves playing catch-up and having to make up lost ground later in the season, while also relying on other teams to drop points. The past has shown they just can't afford to do that in a title race.

A draw or defeat on Sunday also opens the door for the teams below Arsenal to capitalize and overtake, not only putting Arsenal either temporarily or permanently out of the title race but also the top four.

A win against Liverpool is crucial for Arsenal as it will keep Arteta's side hot on the tails of both Arne Slot's team and Man City. It will also prevent the Gunners from being overtaken by any other sides looking to challenge for the title and European football.
