Arsenal secured a stunning 5-1 victory over Manchester City on Sunday evening as they sent a statement to league leaders Liverpool.

Martin Odegaard put the Gunners ahead inside two minutes before a second-half header from Erling Haaland levelled things up. Thomas Partey restored the lead within a matter of seconds before goals from Myles Lewis-Skelly, Kai Havertz and Ethan Nwaneri sealed a resounding victory for Arsenal.

While it was an outstanding all-round team performance, there were three players that stood out among the rest in the dominant victory.

Tasked with handling one of last season's best players, Phil Foden, Myles Lewis-Skelly rose to what was a momentous occasion.

The young left back kept Foden quiet throughout the game and contributed to his side's defensive superiority. He won seven duels, a tackle and made two clearances in what was an overall solid performance.

Lewis-Skelly's brilliance at the back was outshined by a classy moment at the other end of the pitch however. The England youth international picked up a pass from Declan Rice before flooring John Stones to fire an effort past Stefan Ortega. He celebrated by copying Erling Haaland's trademark celebration and by doing so (if he hadn't already), he has put his name into Arsenal folklore for years to come.
