Mikel Arteta's hint that Eze could be deployed in a central position came true as he sent the summer signing on in place of Mikel Merino at half-time.

It didn't take long for Eze to make an impact as he settled in behind Gyökeres and started to dictate Arsenal's attacking play.

Despite Guardiola's ultimately futile attempt to nullify the England international, Eze still managed to unlock City's defence deep into injury time.

With City's defence pushing up, Eze had the awareness of Martinelli's run and the skill to deliver an inch perfect pass for the equaliser.
