Arsenal travel to Girona on Wednesday night as they look to end the league phase of the Champions League with a win.

The Gunners were victorious in their last game, securing a 1-0 win at Wolves, despite being down to ten men for the entirety of the second half. Substitute Riccardo Calafiori nicked the three points for his side with a well taken half-volley.

While Arsenal have all but secured their spot in the round of 16, it is not yet official and a win tonight would assure them of that. There are three key talking points ahead of their European clash with Girona.

1. Some strength needed

Arsenal are effectively guaranteed of a spot in the round of 16, regardless of what happens at the Estadi Municipal de Montilivi. However, they should still be fielding a relatively full strength side and Mikel Arteta seemed adamant on doing so in his pre-match press conference.

The Spaniard can afford to give some players a rest with the likes of Gabriel Magalhaes and Jurrien Timber played heavy minutes of football in recent weeks. The side will need the strength of several key players such as Kai Havertz and Declan Rice however.

Girona have already been eliminated from the Champions League having secured just one win in the league phase, they will be hoping to at least end their debut European campaign on a high note. They will cause the Gunners some problems so a relatively strong side will be needed for Arsenal just to ensure they progress into the next round.
