The Gunners could have a midfield dilemma heading into the game against Sporting with several players in contention to start.

Martin Odegaard has been performing well since his return from injury, providing two assists in as many starts, likely earning him a spot in the lineup to face Sporting. Mikel Merino and Thomas Partey put in good performances against Nottingham Forest so are both likely to start alongside their captain.

Declan Rice is in with a shout to start after remaining on the bench in the win over Forest while he continues to nurse a toe injury. Youngster Ethan Nwaneri may also be a potential starter having shown his class once again with a short cameo on Saturday. It is unlikely either of these will start but there is a possibility. Mikel Arteta will certainly have something to think about when picking his midfield to face Sporting.
