4. Lewis-Skelly's antics

A yellow card before coming on and a rather rude question from Erling Haaland were what made the headlines when Myles Lewis-Skelly made his Arsenal debut in a 2-2 draw away to Manchester City in September. Since then, he has cemented himself as a key starter in the Gunners first team.
The Hale End graduate transitioned from his natural midfield role to fill in at left back for Mikel Arteta and his maturity on the pitch saw him knuckle down as a spot as first choice. Lewis-Skelly often played with such composure and made himself look like a seasoned professional against tough opponents like Real Madrid, Liverpool and Chelsea.
It's not only his performances that have seen him catch the eye of many however, with Lewis-Skelly's antics also proving to be a big talking point.
He started in Arsenal's 5-1 win over Man City and scored the third goal with a good strike and he celebrated with something he had very likely pre planned. Having been mocked by Haaland months earlier, Lewis-Skelly thought the most suitable way to celebrate would be to replicate the striker's famous meditation celebration. This saw him lauded by Arsenal fans while pundits and rival supporters found it to be disrespectful. Considering how he was treated in the first game though, it was quite justified.
As the Gunners travelled to face Real Madrid for the second leg of their Champions League quarter-final, boasting a 3-0 advantage, Lewis-Skelly was the question of debate over whether he would be able to perform in such a hostile atmosphere. Not only did he put on a brilliant display, he had appeared incredibly calm and composed prior to the game, prancing around the Santiago Bernabeu listening to music and calling his family members.
Lewis-Skelly will continue to be a key part of the Arsenal first team next season and beyond, but to have acted the way he did in his debut season at just 18-years-old has to be applauded and fans will never forget it.
