Warning: the names 'Benjamin Sesko', 'Dusan Vlahovic' and 'Viktor Gyokeres' were not explored or harmed in the making of this transfer list.

It is no secret that Arsenal like Alexander Isak and rumours persist that the club will weigh up a move for him during the summer window.

However, a hefty price tag (approx. £150m) and the possible return of Champions League football to Tyneside next term could see Isak stay put and the Gunners might, therefore, be better off searching elsewhere for a new no.9.

Few players can meet our frontline demands – or so it seemed in January – but the attack cannot be overlooked yet again and so Mikel Arteta and co. must scour the market to find someone worthy of leading their attack.

So, from Bundesliga hotshots to a (soon-to-be) relegated gem, here are five alternatives to Isak that Arsenal may chase to solve their offensive woes.

1. Hugo Ekitiké (Eintracht Frankfurt)

If the masses want an Isak profile, they do not come much better than that of Eintracht Frankfurt star Hugo Ekitiké.

The 22-year-old only joined last year but he is already being linked with a move away and several top European clubs are keeping tabs.

Their interest is understandable: Ekitiké possesses the same lightning speed and dribbling skills as Isak and can score all types of goals, while his livewire nature could inject the sort of unpredictability that our systematic attack is crying out for.

This ‘complete’ range has led to a stellar personal campaign, with Ekitiké grabbing 19 goals and eight assists in 38 games across 2024/25 and maintaining good form after the January exit of his teammate Omar Marmoush.

One big drawback: that personnel loss – and the financial boost it engendered – will make Frankfurt even more reluctant to cash in again here. Perhaps the ‘project’ element of this move (a 22-year-old adapting to English football) could also give Arsenal pause for thought.

He is still an excellent player though and one worth our consideration.
