2. Marcus Thuram (Inter Milan)

Our attention shifts to Italy now and, specifically, to the Nerazzurri frontline, where Marcus Thuram continues to ply his wondrous trade.
A fit Thuram ticks many boxes: he is quite nimble and athletic despite his 6ft 3in frame and he boasts a hugely powerful shot, with great physicality and an aerial threat always a nice bonus for any target of Mikel Arteta.
Those qualities tend to pique global interest but never gain long-term traction and that may well owe to his biggest downfall – a poor injury record.
Since 2020/21, Thuram has suffered more than a dozen injury/fatigue-related absences and – maybe as a consequence of that – has never enjoyed a truly standout campaign. His current total of 16 goals in 2024/25 is a joint career-best and it might hold for a few weeks as, in recent days, he picked up yet another ankle injury.
The ‘talented-but-always-injured’ phenomenon is nothing new at Arsenal and the last thing we need is another perennial absentee so, for all his considerable talents, perhaps the club should focus their energies elsewhere.
