Arsenal are developing a 'strong interest' in Sporting CP forward Viktor Gyokeres, and the Swede is expected to be among the players they consider to blossom into their new long-term number nine.
Gyokeres has taken the continent by storm since he moved to Portugal in 2023. At the time of writing, he's scored 59 Primeira Liga goals in 59 games. He also netted six times during Sporting's Champions League league phase campaign, including a hat-trick against Manchester City.
He's previously been tenuously linked to the Gunners, given their striker needs, and supporters kept a close eye on his performance when Arsenal travelled to Lisbon last November. While Gyokeres failed to get on the scoresheet, the Swede did show glimpses of his destructive talent.

The name on the tip of every Gooner's tongue is Alexander Isak, and we know that Arsenal, along with Liverpool, boast a genuine interest in the Newcastle hitman. He's the game-changing forward I think we all want, but acquiring him this summer will be a challenge.
The Magpies are going to demand a huge sum for Isak's services, and a departure is seemingly unlikely if Eddie Howe's side qualify for the Champions League after they ended their 70-year wait to claim a major domestic trophy in March.
Given the lack of guarantees surrounding Isak, Arsenal are considering an array of alternatives. An attempt was made to sign Benjamin Sesko last summer, and interest in the Slovenian international with bags of potential hasn't faded. Gyokeres is an option admired by new sporting director Andrea Berta, with The Athletic reporting on Sunday evening that the Gunners are 'developing a strong interest' in the 26-year-old.
Berta showed during his lengthy tenure at Atletico Madrid that he was more than willing to take risks in the striker market, with the likes of Antoine Griezmann, Luis Suarez, Diego Costa, Memphis Depay, and Joao Felix among the forward to join Atleti under the Italian's watch.
If Isak proves to be unattainable, Gyokeres, given his profile and record in Portugal, would be an alternative the majority should be able to get on board with - even if Primeira Liga hitmen have often fallen flat on their faces in the English top flight.
