Argentina footballing legend Gabriel Heinze is set to join Mikel Arteta's coaching staff at Arsenal, according to multiple reports.
The Athletic broke the news on Thursday night that the former Manchester United and Real Madrid defender will become part of Arteta's backroom setup as a replacement for Carlos Cuesta, who kickstarted his managerial career when he took the reins at Parma earlier this month.
A man with plenty of experience both in his playing and coaching career, Heinze should be a great addition to Arteta's staff.

Heinze earned plenty of experience during his playing career, making 509 appearances throughout a near 20-year tenure as a professional. He won league titles during his time at Real Madrid and Manchester United, as well as playing 72 times for Argentina.
He already knows Mikel Arteta well, having played together at Paris Saint-Germain during the 2001/02 season while the Spaniard was on loan in the French capital. The Gunners boss has previously cited Heinze as one of his inspirations during his time at PSG.
The former defender was linked with a move to Arsenal last summer, but nothing came to fruition. However, this time around, it looks as if Heinze will be joining up with the backroom staff in N5.
Not only did he earn plenty of experience as a player, Heinze has also become an experienced coach, having transitioned following his retirement. He became manager of Godoy Cruz, before having spells with Argentinos Juniors, Velez Sarsfield, Atlanta United, and Newell's Old Boys.
Heinze should be able to bring a wealth of knowledge to Arsenal. He had a seasoned career as a top-quality defender and has earned experience in the managerial world. His time as a player should aid him in helping the Gunners' already brilliant backline develop even further while his links to Arteta should also see him fit into the coaching setup without any issues.
Carlos Cuesta's departure was a big loss for Arsenal, but the introduction of Heinze to the backroom staff means they have handled it in a good way.
