Arsenal fans love Martin Ødegaard, don't get that twisted. It might have been a slow start to the season for the Arsenal captain, but he always finds a way when he needs it most.
However, the opening three games have proven one thing to Arsenal fans: Reliability comes from more areas of the pitch now, not just Martin Ødegaard's position, and that's great.
In fact, Arsenal has seen plenty of goal involvement from their defense, of all positions. Heck, the opening goal of the season came from Riccardo Calafiori.
But Riccardo Calafiori isn't even Arsenal's best defender this season, despite his exceptional start. Instead, Jurrien Timber has blown us all away.
Jurrien Timber is Arsenal's most reliable player now
Jurrien Timber is Arsenal's most reliable player this season, and he's rightfully taken that crown from Ødegaard. Being the true leader he is, Ødegaard will LOVE to see his teammate Timber flourish from full-back.
Timber's start to life in North London was rocky. There was so much anticipation around his name when he first arrived, but on his Premier League debut, he went down early doors in an injury which would derail the rest of his season.
The next season, Arsenal fans were reminded of the reason why they signed Jurrien Timber. Whenever he played, something was different about Arsenal. Boasting the work-rate to both bomb forward and defend with disicpline when required.
However, even after his injury return, it wasn't easy for Jurrien Timber. He was competing in a packed defense, and Ben White still had some carryover love from carrying Arsenal in Timber's absence.
Nevertheless, Timber stuck his head down and this season, he's reaping all of the rewards. In Arsenal's opening three, he has been the standout player. He's making a case that the right-back position is his, and he won't give it up easily.
Of course, Mikel Arteta is struck with a nice problem to have. He loves having selection headaches, and he'll feel the need to play Ben White more, but he simply can't justify dropping Timber considering his form.
Right now, Arsenal fans know that something is going to happen whenever Jurrien Timber is involved. This was once the role of Martin Ødegaard, and we're sure that he'll reclaim this aura as time progresses. At this point, though, Timber is the man of the moment. Long may that continue.
