Arsenal were completely outclassed by Manchester City as they fell to a 2-0 defeat in the final of the Carabao Cup.
Mikel Arteta was dealt a double injury blow ahead of the final as both Eberechi Eze and Jurrien Timber were ruled out of action, which saw Kai Havertz and Ben White start in their place. One of the game's big questions was answered when Kepa Arrizabalaga was named in goal over David Raya.
The Gunners made a good start to the game and almost went ahead following a neatly worked move. Martín Zubimendi played Havertz in on goal, but James Trafford stood firm to deny him and Bukayo Saka on the rebound.
City found their way into the game before the half-hour mark, but couldn't break through a resilient Arsenal defence while the North Londonders looked to attack when the chance came.
Neither side could find the back of the net though, meaning the score was deadlocked at 0-0 at the halfway point.
Level at the halfway stage.

City started the second-half as the much better side and really put the Gunners under the cosh. They eventually took the lead on the hour mark when Kepa spilled a cross, allowing Nico O'Reilly to come in and head home from close range.
It soon got worse for Arsenal when City added a second, again through O'Reilly, who rose highest to head in from Matheus Nunes' cross.
Arteta's side finally decided to start attacking when they went two goals down, but were so poor as they couldn't get through City in any area of the pitch.
That proved to be that as the Cityzens saw out the closing stages to win the Carabao Cup and ensure the Gunners' agonising wait for silverware continued.
Here are the Arsenal player ratings from their 2-0 final defeat to Man City.
Arsenal 0-2 Man City player ratings

Goalkeeper & Defenders
Kepa Arrizabalaga (GK) - 3/10 - Got away with one when he rushed out of his goal to close down Doku, but did concede a free kick and pick up a yellow card. Spilled a cross, allowing O'Reilly to head in the opener. Let in a second shortly after.
Ben White (RB) - 6/10 - Picked up a yellow card in the second-half when he took Cherki out after he decided to kick-ups at 2-0. Substituted late on.
William Saliba (CB) - 6.5/10 - Brilliant in the first-half, doing really well to win balls over the top and deal with Haaland. Will be gutted to have lost the game.
Gabriel Magalhaes (CB) - 6.5/10 - Good in the air and battled well. Like his partner, he will be so disappointed by his team's performance.
Piero Hincapié (LB) - 6/10 - Booked in the first-half. Struggled against Semenyo and was eventually brought off in the second-half.
Midfielders
Martín Zubimendi (CM) - 5/10 - Played a nice ball through for Havertz early on. Couldn't get in front of O'Reilly to prevent the opener. Bullied off the ball far too often.
Declan Rice (CM) - 6.5/10 - Caused some problems with his deliveries and played some nice passes, but couldn't have enough of an impact.
Kai Havertz (AM) - 6/10 - Saw a shot saved well by Trafford in the opening minutes. His influence faded after the chance and he was taken off after City's second.
Forwards
Bukayo Saka (RW) - 5.5/10 - Denied twice by Trafford on the rebound in the early stages. Moved into midfield following Havertz's withdrawal, but failed to offer anything.
Viktor Gyökeres (ST) - 5.5/10 - Made some good runs in the opening stages, but failed to be too involved. A disappointing showing up top.
Leandro Trossard (LW) - 5.5/10 - Offered hardly anything on the left side and should have been brought off a lot sooner than he was.
Substitutes
- Riccardo Calafiori (on 66' for Hincapié) - 6.5/10
- Noni Madueke (on 66' for Havertz) - 5.5/10
- Gabriel Martinelli (on 82' for Trossard) - N/A
- Gabriel Jesus (on 82' for White) - N/A
