A brilliant start to the game saw the Gunners control every aspect of the game, and their dominance was rewarded after 23 minutes when Leandro Trossard delightfully found Kai Havertz in the box after an inviting ball and the German tapped home from close range.
That was the end of the scoring as the Gunners continued to pile on the pressure, but the visitors defended well enough to keep the damage to just one goal.
