Arsenal were held to a 1-1 draw against a plucky Brentford side at the Emirates.
Mikel Arteta's Arsenal side was held to a 1-1 draw to Brentford at the Emirates with attention clearly on the Real Madrid contest midweek.
A host of changes were made from Arteta and Arsenal, once again took a lead through Thomas Partey's strike, but couldn't find that second goal as the visitors equalized through Yoane Wissa just 14 minutes later.
For all the huffing and puffing from Arsenal as from its 14 shots, just three were on target, compared to Brentford's three shots, two on target, the Gunners were again left ruing their miss chances.
The draw now leaves Liverpool 13 points clear with six games left as the Gunners cleary have waved the white flag in the title race.
Here are three takeaways from Arsenal's 1-1 draw with Brentford
Partey giving Arteta food for thought
After his heroics midweek against Real Madrid, Partey continued his rich vein of form, but this time he was deployed at right back.
His marauding run after a Brentford corner to be an option for Declan Rice, who then laid the ball to Partey, and his strike that gave the Gunners the lead was sublime.
He's looking more and more comfortable at right back, and set to be a free agent after 2025, he might have just given Arteta something to think about.
