Arsenal booked their spot in the quarter-finals of the Carabao Cup as they defeated Brighton 2-0 at the Emirates Stadium.
Mikel Arteta rang the changes for this tie with a number of players being given opportunities to shine. The standout decision though was his choice to start Max Dowman and Andre Harriman-Annous who were both named in the lineup to make their full debuts for the Gunners. Piero Hincapié was also handed his first start for the club.
Brighton caused a few problems for Arsenal in the early stages, forcing Kepa Arrizabalaga into making two saves inside 10 minutes.
The Seagulls continued to enjoy the majority of the chances throughout the first half with the Gunners looking slightly nervy at times. Dowman was one of few bright sparks for the hosts, looking to cause problems down the right flank whenever on the ball.
There was nothing to separate the sides at half-time meaning they went into the break level.

Dowman continued to be a troublesome force on the wing as soon as play resumed and almost won his side a penalty. He worked his way past Brighton's defence into the box and looked to have been clipped before going down, but referee Sam Barrett waved the appeals away.
The breakthrough finally came just before the hour mark and it was Arsenal who struck first. Mikel Merino played a neat backheel to Myles Lewis-Skelly, who found Ethan Nwaneri in the box. The Hale End graduate struck it first time and found the bottom corner with a well-taken low effort.
Brighton looked to grow back into the game, but the Gunners killed the tie off after making some strong changes. Bukayo Saka, fresh off the bench, pounced on a rebounded effort to fire in and double his side's lead with 15 minutes to play.
Arsenal saw out late pressure from an altered Seagulls side to secure the victory and ensure their progression to the next round, continuing their brilliant recent form.
Here are the Arsenal player ratings from their 2-0 win over Brighton.
