Gabriel Martinelli (LW) - 8/10 - He didn't quite turn the clock back to his peak form in an Arsenal shirt, but Martinelli still did enough to remind people about the obvious talent within. Specifically, the Brazilian tormented Fulham right-back Timothy Castagne, regularly showing the Belgian a clean pair of heels and creating chances with some smart and varied deliveries. The most notable was the headed flick to find Saka for Arsenal's second. Winger to winger. Same as it ever was in Arteta's grand design.
There's still room for Martinelli to be his old, bold and direct self, particularly when a chance comes his way. Yet, this was an encouraging turn from a player the Gunners will need to be back to his best in time for the biggest European tie in years.
Mikel Merino (ST) - 7/10 - If Martinelli got pulses racing and bums out of seats, Merino was more hurly burly. All industry, but lacking inspiration. Fortunately, hard work often goes a long way in lieu of that elusive something special. So it proved for Merino, who got his goal and would have bagged another, had it not been for an elasticated goal-line clearance on the hour.
Ethan Nwaneri (RW) - 8/10 - Nwaneri may find himself sent back to the bench followig Saka's return, but the teenager has marked his card as key to the long-term future success of this Arsenal side. Natural acceleration, neat touches and clever distribution are the hallmarks of a gifted attacker whose best future may lay deeper in a central area. Saka's comeback campaign will afford Arteta the chance to be brave and experiment with Nwaneri's next role.
