Martin Odegaard (CM) - 6.5/10 - Linked up well with his teammates but struggled to make too much of an impact creatively. Was dominated by Villa's midfield at times, losing a number of duels. His set piece deliveries weren't up to scratch when it mattered most.
Mikel Merino (CM) - 6.5/10 - Much better game for the Spaniard as he helped out in both defence and attack. Battled well with his opposite numbers, coming out on top on multiple occasions but allowed Tielemans to break away to head in Villa's first. Thought he had won it late on, but a Havertz handball changed that before hitting the post with another effort.
Declan Rice (CM) - 7.5/10 - Caused plenty of problems for the Villa defence with a number of crosses. Did what he did best by helping out in both attack and defence with a solid midfield showing. Went close with a well-taken strike from long range.
