Midfielders
Mikel Merino (CM) - 7/10 - This was the proverbial mixed bag for Arsenal's new(ish) boy. Merino almost gifted Salah a goal in the first half, then missed a sitter at the other end, before finally getting it right to head home Rice's pristine delivery. In general play, Merino was busy and typically willing to engage in the rough and tumble of a Premier League tussle at the top end of the table. It's just a shame quality was often missing from the former Real Sociedad man's work on the ball.
Declan Rice (CM) - 9/10 - Not giving Rice full marks feels almost petty, so consider this a 9.9 and two-thirds rating. Rice justified the plaudits with a near-flawless performance. He was all strength and tenacity in the duels, all composure and class in possession. Two pinpoint set pieces should have resulted in as many goals for Merino, but Rice still came away with one assist. The only blot on his copybook was being caught in no man's land for Salah's equaliser, when Rice failed to keep up with the play and was unable to track the goalscorer's movement.
Leandro Trossard (AM) - 4/10 - Dear Mikel Arteta, all I want for Christmas is for you to abandon the experiment of playing Leandro Trossard as a central playmaker. Martin Odegaard he ain't.
