Christian Norgaard (DM) - 7/10 - Found himself high up the pitch on multiple occasions, helping to press Villarreal's shaky backline. Pulled a goal back for his side with a header at the back post. Replaced at the break.

Mikel Merino (CM) - 7/10 - Played a teasing cross into the box early on, but no one could get on the end of it. Continued to be involved in an advanced position and looked to cause problems. Saw a shot from range saved on the hour mark. Shifted to striker following substitutions, but couldn't find the back of the net. Only player to complete 90 minutes. Missed his penalty in the shootout.

Ethan Nwaneri (CM) - 7.5/10 - Started really well and caused issues with his tricky feet and put Saka in on goal with a good pass. Struggled to threaten with his set piece deliveries however. Taken off just after the hour mark.
