Martin Odegaard knows how big of a result Arsenal's win over Manchester City was.
Not many would have envisioned a 5-1 win for Arsenal over Manchester City, but that's exactly what happened at the Emirates as Mikel Arteta's side sent a warning to the rest of the Premier League.
They're back.
Martin Odegaard settled the nerves after only two minutes, tapping home from close range, and while Erling Haaland equalized after half-time, the Gunners bounced back quickly thanks to Thomas Partey and then two more goals from Myles Lewis-Skelly and Kai Havertz to put the game out of reach with 15 minutes left.
This was a result that the Gunners simply had to have and with things not going as swimmingly as many had hoped, Arsenal has given a timely reminder to the rest of the Premier League that when it is on form, this is the type of performance it can produce and this will no doubt have pricked the ears of Liverpool who might now be looking over their shoulders as the north London club comes into view.

But Arsenal's win might not have happened if it wasn't for what Arteta called the "turning point" in the game.
After City equalized through Haaland, all the positive momentum the Gunners had, was transferred to the visitors and that could have kickstarted a period of dominance from Pep Guardiola's side and they might have even won the game.
Enter Thomas Partey.
Just 60 seconds after Haaland scored, Partey took aim at the City goal from outside the box and restored the Gunners' lead, and that is exactly what needed to happen. We have seen so often that when a team scores, they get the momentum and the Gunners made sure that whatever confidence they had from the goal, was taken away quickly and that was the tonic for the win.
Lewis-Skelly, Havertz and Ethan Nwaneri all got on the scoresheet in the second half to put City to the sword.
Games are often defined by moments and getting that goal as soon as City equalized was perhaps the moment of the game with the Gunners after letting the lead slip, got it back almost immediately, and they rolled on from there.
Arsenal have now got something cooking in the league after this thumping. Now for a new striker to come in, please.
