Arsenal host Bayer Leverkusen in the Champions League tonight. With their captain, Martin Odegaard, out injured, many would assume that Max Dowman should be given a runout in his place. However, Mikel Arteta will opt for Kai Havertz instead of Max Dowman.

Kai Havertz has great Champions League experience. He, of course, scored the winning goal for Chelsea in the final, but he also gave Arsenal fresh hope in the competition by scoring a late penalty against Bayer Leverkusen in the first leg.

Havertz returned from injury lately, and he's bound to be a crucial figure for Arsenal in the final stretch of the season.

When will Max Dowman get his Arsenal shot?

Max Dowman will get chances between now and the end of the season. If his performance from the bench against Everton proved anything, it's that he has the world at his feet and he can take a game by the scruff of the neck. With a young Lionel Messi's ability to glide past players and a young Cole Palmer's ability to remain unfazed, this kid has something special.

However, as excited as Mikel Arteta is, he'll know better than to throw Max Dowman in at the deep end. Part of the reason why he's got bags of potential is that he's been used sparingly.

His injury in the academy a few months ago suggested that he's still susceptible to being harmed. Therefore, managing his workload during this stage of his career is paramount.

It seems wild to say, but even in a decade, Max Dowman won't be at his peak yet. Arsenal fans have plenty of time to enjoy his development, and there's every possibility that he will come off the bench again for this one, particularly if Arsenal go a goal ahead.

Max Dowman is Arsenal's future, but that doesn't start vs Bayer Leverkusen

Arsenal need a win more than anything against Bayer Leverkusen. They weren't the most convincing away from home, but they should have an easier time of things at home.

Martin Odegaard's injury will present some more opportunities to Max Dowman. He has proven that he will answer the calls whenever Mikel Arteta hits him up. However, tonight's match against Bayer Leverkusen is not one that he will start.

Of course, I'm open to being proven wrong. If he starts, it will be exciting. This is more of a prediction, rather than saying what's best for the team. Max Dowman can ball out; this we know for sure.
