Arsenal host Bayer Leverkusen in the second leg of their Champions League round of 16 this evening and they have to qualify.

The clash is tightly poised following a 1-1 draw in last week's first leg, but the Gunners will be favourites to secure their spot in the quarter-finals given the home advantage they boast.

However, there is always the possibility of slipping up, but Mikel Arteta's side simply can't afford to do that with this being their best ever chance to win Europe's premier prize.

Having topped the league phase table with eight wins from eight games, Arsenal have been the favourites to go on and win the tournament for some time, with their chances only being increased by their knockout stage draw.

Their first-place finish meant they are guaranteed home advantage in every second leg on their way to the final and February's draw showed how great of a chance they have of making the final.

If they are to reach the quarter-finals, they will face one of Bodø/Glimt or Sporting, with it likely to be the former given their 3-0 aggregate advantage going into the second leg. Then in the semi-finals, the Gunners will take on Barcelona, Atletico Madrid, Newcastle or Tottenham.

With all respect to the potential opponents, that is one of the easiest draws Arsenal could have been dealt and that makes this their best ever chance to win the Champions League. Now, they just have to make sure they don't mess it up.

Despite being held to a draw last week, Arteta's side are still ranked as favourites to win the trophy, with a 28% chance of doing so. That puts them ahead of Bayern Munich, Paris-Saint Germain, Barcelona and Real Madrid, just to name a few.

The first thing the Gunners need to do is get past Leverkusen this evening and that is not going to be an easy task, but it is one they are more than capable of overcoming.

No one can deny that Arsenal should go on and win the Champions League this season. Even taking into account when they made it to the final in 2006, this is by far their best chance to go all the way and win it.

The only team stopping Arsenal is Arsenal. They can not afford to get in their own way once again because they are never going to get a better chance than this.
