Arsenal goalkeeper Karl Hein has left the club to join Werder Bremen on loan for the 2025/26 season.

The Estonia international was tipped to leave the club this summer with links to temporary and permanent moves away from north London, with a loan to the Bundesliga side now officially confirmed.

It'll be the third time Hein has left the Gunners on a loan deal and fans will be hoping he is the first of many departures in the final days of the transfer window.

Hein first joined Arsenal in 2018 when he signed from his boyhood club Nomme United and progressed through the academy ranks before being promoted to the first team.

He eventually made his senior debut for the Gunners during the 2022/23 campaign, playing the entirety of a 3-1 defeat at home to Brighton in the third round of the Carabao Cup.

The 39-cap Estonia international has previously spent time away from north London on loan, spending the second half of the 2021/22 season with Reading, where he played five times.

He spent last campaign with Real Valladolid, making 32 appearances in all competitions, but couldn't prevent them from being relegated from La Liga as they finished rock bottom of the Spanish top flight.

Hein had been heavily linked with a move away from Arsenal this summer with Werder Bremen fighting off interest from the likes of Levante, Rangers and Rizespor.

Mikel Arteta's side had originally preferred a permanent transfer for the shotstopper, valuing him between £3million and £5m, but have had to settle for a loan move. There was a belief that they would try insert an obligation to buy clause in a temporary deal, but it's unclear if that was successful.

The Estonian's contract is set to expire at the end of the season, but Arsenal hold an option to extend it by another 12 months so they should be able to sell him on next year if Werder don't want to keep hold of him.
